Tacoma Modular Tower Project Gets New Developer

Charles Cheung, a Los Angeles-area developer, is pursuing permits to develop Star Residence – a $70 million 233-unit project. In 2022, pre-development plans for the project were initially filed by Bothell’s DMG Capital Group with the city according to Puget Sound Business Journal. At that time Pinnacle LGS (a company owned by Cheung) was involved as partner in this venture but now he has acquired the four parcel site through a related entity for $2.2 million and is now sole owner of this development.
Pinnacle LGS specializes in light gauge steel (LGS) framed building construction and IHB Architects of Kent who worked on the tower for DMG remain its architects even though they are no longer part of it anymore. The proposed plan calls for 12 story 162,000 square feet structure with nine levels made up modular units over two levels concrete construction .
