**Survey: Most Office Occupiers Plan to Maintain or Expand Their Footprints**

U.S. companies have made substantial progress over the past year in achieving their office attendance goals and enforcing related policies, according to CBRE’s recently released 2025 Americas Office Occupier Sentiment Survey. The survey, which includes input from 184 companies, found that 72% of respondents have now met their attendance goals—up from 61% in the previous year.

In addition, the number of companies actively monitoring employee attendance rose from 45% to 69%, and those enforcing attendance policies increased from 17% to 37%.

“These increases show that companies have made significant progress on establishing a new baseline for work habits and office attendance after five years of adapting to hybrid work,” said Manish Kashyap, CBRE’s Global President of Leasing. “Having employers and employees closer to being on the same page now than in the previous couple of years gives both more clarity. That benefits operational efficiency and space planning.”

As work habits stabilize, many companies are more optimistic about their future office space needs. Sixty-seven percent of companies said they plan to either maintain or expand their current office footprint over the next three years, an increase from 64% in the prior year. Meanwhile, the share of companies anticipating a reduction in office space declined to 33%, down from 36% last year and 53% in 2023.

These findings signal a continued shift away from pandemic-era reductions and an evolving commitment to long-term workplace strategies.
