In 1969, Big Surf pioneered the concept of inland surfing, bringing wave machines and rolling breakers to the desert sands of Mesa. For 50 years, it provided a much-needed summer escape for residents of the Valley of the Sun until its closure in 2019. Now, a new chapter in Arizona surfing begins.
**Revel Surf at Cannon Beach** is set for its official grand opening on March 1, following a soft launch in December.
Revel Surf is one of only three publicly accessible surf parks in the United States and serves as the anchor of a 37-acre mixed-use development. Located at 4503 S. Power Road in Mesa, the park boasts a 1.8-acre surf lagoon alongside 500,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and hotel space.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities, including access to high-quality surf equipment, lessons for all skill levels, a beach pass for lounging on imported Florida sand, a skate park, and cliff diving from heights of up to 26 feet. The waves are powered by cutting-edge technology from Swell Mfg, ensuring consistent and dynamic surf conditions. In addition to a variety of food and beverage options, two hotels are planned for the development.
