Sugar Mill Renovation in Sugar Land Moving Forward

An iconic shell of a former factory emblematic of the town’s founding is moving closer to being converted into a mixed-use commercial real estate project. The overall plan includes retail, restaurants, entertainment, offices, apartments and possibly a hotel with the first phase involving redevelopment of the most iconic building on site – the former Char House which still prominently displays Imperial Sugar name on top.

The Houston Business Journal reports that while city of Sugar Land approved general development plan in March 2020; developer Puma Development is currently preparing final development plans for each phase which could be approved this fall following entering into an agreement with Puma Development. A Colliers team based in Houston will start marketing once renderings are received expected mid-summer 2021.

This ambitious project could take between 6 to 10 years to complete and promises exciting opportunities for investors and developers alike!
