Sugar Mill Renovation in Sugar Land Moving Forward

Sugar Land is moving ahead with the renovation of its iconic Sugar Mill, a former factory emblematic of the town’s founding. The overall plan for this mixed-use commercial real estate project includes retail, restaurants, entertainment venues, offices and apartments as well as potential hotel space. The first phase will focus on redeveloping the most recognizable building on site -the Char House- which still prominently displays Imperial Sugar’s name at its peak.

In March 2020, city officials approved a general development plan for this project and developer Puma Development is now in the process of preparing final plans to be submitted to city council later this fall. Once these are approved by local authorities Colliers International Houston team will start marketing it mid-summer after renderings become available. It could take up to 10 years before completion but progress has already been made towards making this dream a reality!
