Sugar Mill Renovation in Sugar Land Moving Forward

Sugar Mill Renovation in Sugar Land Moving Forward

An iconic shell of a former factory, emblematic of the town’s founding, is moving closer to being converted into a mixed-use commercial real estate project. The plan includes retail, restaurants, entertainment venues, offices and apartments – possibly even a hotel. The first phase involves redeveloping the most iconic building on site: the former Char House that still prominently displays Imperial Sugar’s name at its top.

The Houston Business Journal reports that while Sugar Land approved its general development plan in March 2020; developer Puma Development is currently preparing final plans for each phase of this project. Once these have been approved by city officials they will enter into an agreement with Puma Development which could happen as soon as fall 2020. A Colliers team based in Houston will begin marketing this project once renderings are released (expected mid-summer).

This renovation could take anywhere from six to ten years to complete when all phases are finished and operational.
