Subleasing Amazon's Bridgeport Warehouse: What You Need to Know

Amazon has put up a 112,000-square-foot warehouse in Bridgeport on Chicago’s South Side and a 189,000-square-foot facility in suburban Addison for sublease. The company had signed the deal for the Bridgeport facility at 2420 S. Halsted St. to operate as a distribution center back in 2020 but faced community opposition when it was reviewed by city officials that same year.

In response to this development, Amazon spokesperson Steve Kelly said that they are “always evaluating their network and making adjustments to best fit the needs of their business and customers”. This move comes after Amazon made an aggressive push before and during the COVID pandemic to open more warehouses but have since pulled back on some of those plans according to CoStar data which shows at least three suburban facilities being put up for sublease over last year alone.
