BNBuilders, in collaboration with Gensler, has successfully completed the first phase of Pacific Center, a significant new life sciences campus located in San Diego’s Sorrento Mesa neighborhood. Developed by Sterling Bay, the project spans 690,000 square feet and includes four newly constructed buildings along with substantial site enhancements.

The completed first phase features two six-story lab and office buildings, a 12-story parking structure, and a two-story mass timber amenity center.

“Our goal was to build a space that not only meets the technical needs of life sciences tenants but also fosters connection and well-being for the entire community,” said Alessandra Lapadula, Project Executive at BNBuilders. “The use of mass timber brought both beauty and sustainability to the heart of the project.”

Construction on this phase began in June 2023 through a partnership between Sterling Bay and Harrison Street. The development will continue with a second phase, which includes plans for a six-story, 279,000-square-foot office building.

Pacific Center is expected to be a transformative project for the Sorrento Mesa area, reinforcing the region’s status as a thriving hub for the life sciences industry.
