**Texas Cyber Command to Be Headquartered in San Antonio**
Texas is taking a major step in strengthening its cyber defenses with the establishment of the Texas Cyber Command — set to become the largest state-based cybersecurity department in the nation. The Command will be headquartered in San Antonio and supported by academic and research resources at The University of Texas at San Antonio. The project has received state approval with a committed investment of $135 million.
Expected to be fully operational by 2027, the Texas Cyber Command will take time to construct necessary infrastructure, recruit skilled personnel, and implement comprehensive monitoring and response systems.
San Antonio’s robust cybersecurity ecosystem — already home to major entities like the Sixteenth Air Force, the FBI, the NSA, the U.S. Secret Service, the U.S. Army, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Southwest Texas Fusion Center — makes it a strategic location for the new Command.
Key initiatives of the Texas Cyber Command include:
