"St. Pete Welcomes First Whole Foods to the Area"

There are currently more than 500 Whole Foods Markets operating in the United States. Recently, St. Petersburg announced its first location, a 40,100-square-foot store situated near the Old Northeast neighborhood and developed as part of a retail redevelopment project on the former site of Suncoast Fitness.

According to reports from Tampa Bay Business Journal, this new store is slightly smaller compared to another recently opened Whole Foods in Midtown Tampa (48,000 square feet). However, it still offers an impressive selection including a full-service seafood counter and specialty cheese department. Additionally, customers can choose from over 180 craft beers with 50 being sourced from local breweries. The St. Pete location will also feature more than 800 items curated from various suppliers throughout the Southeast region.

In terms of ownership and management structure for Whole Foods Market Inc., Austin-based company was acquired by Amazon back in 2017.
