### St. John Properties Expands National Solar Rooftop Strategy
St. John Properties, Inc. has achieved LEED certification for 27 buildings, strengthening its nationwide solar strategy. The company recently completed its largest solar installation to date at Aspen at Melford Town Center.
In collaboration with Capital Solar Group, St. John Properties installed the extensive solar energy system at the 388-unit, $150 million multifamily community. The development, which includes studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, was built in partnership with Somerset Companies, LLC.
Since launching its LEED program in 2009, St. John Properties has developed over 7.7 million square feet of LEED-certified space nationwide. The company is ranked among the top five developers of LEED-certified buildings in the U.S. by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Last year, St. John Properties obtained LEED certification for 27 buildings, bringing its total count to more than 130 LEED-certified properties. “Achieving LEED certification for flex/R&D buildings is atypical in the commercial real estate industry, but we have been compelled to be the market leader,” said Ryan Schwabenbauer, Vice President of Sustainability at St. John Properties.
