Sports and Entertainment District Planned for Winston-Salem

In recent years, many professional sports teams have created vibrant sports and entertainment districts near their stadiums. Now, a major college is looking to replicate this success.

Carter and Front Street Capital are teaming up with the City of Winston-Salem and Wake Forest University to develop The Grounds, a 100-acre mixed-use project surrounding North Carolina’s top event venues. With an estimated cost of $150 million, this development will bring together retail shops, restaurants, residential units, and office space in one central location.

The Grounds will feature:

– A 40,000-square-foot retail village offering various food options
– A residential community with 240 units
– An office building spanning over 100K square feet that will be leased by Wake Forest University
– Infrastructure enhancements funded by a $35 million grant from the State of North Carolina. These improvements include road upgrades,
restoration of Silas Creek waterway,
and construction of a paved walking trail surrounded by greenery for easy pedestrian access throughout The Grounds.

This exciting new project is set to transform Winston-Salem into an even more dynamic destination for both locals and visitors alike. Stay tuned for updates on its progress!
