By pairing additional land with directly owned wind generation and substation access, Soluna is emphasizing behind-the-meter power control as a core design feature for AI data center expansion.

Soluna Holdings has expanded its development footprint in Briscoe County, Texas, closing on 397 acres that will serve as the site for Project Dorothy 3. The company develops green data centers for power-intensive computing uses, including artificial intelligence and Bitcoin mining. The newly acquired land, located between Amarillo and Lubbock, is designated for a renewable-first AI computing campus that could ultimately support up to 300 MW of capacity, based on current plans.

The new parcel is directly adjacent to Soluna’s existing Projects Dorothy 1 and 2, creating a larger, contiguous campus area for the company. It also sits next to the 150 MW Briscoe Wind Farm, which Soluna acquired in April. The wind farm’s substation lies immediately across from the Dorothy 3 site, giving the planned campus direct, behind-the-meter access to power generation that Soluna owns outright.

By securing 397 acres, Soluna exceeded the approximately 300 acres it originally identified for the Dorothy 3 campus. The additional land provides flexibility to add more data halls over time if further generation or storage capacity becomes available at the location. This expansion effectively builds in room for phased growth aligned with future power and storage resources at the site.

Project Dorothy 3 contributes to Soluna’s broader development pipeline, which totals roughly 6.3 GW across multiple locations. In addition to its pipeline, the company reports approximately 192 MW of currently energized capacity in operation. The Briscoe County acquisition therefore represents both a physical expansion of Soluna’s land holdings and an incremental step in scaling its portfolio of renewable-focused computing infrastructure.
