Solar Panel Maker Selects York County, SC for $150 Million Plant

Silfab Solar, a leading manufacturer of solar panels, has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in York County, South Carolina. This $150 million project is expected to create 800 jobs and will have the capacity to produce 2 gigawatts (GW) of cells and 1.2 GW of modules annually.

The company has leased a large building spanning over 785,000 square feet in Fort Mill for this venture. The state-of-the-art facility will utilize cutting-edge technology for the production of next-generation solar cells and is set to begin operations by Q3 of 2024.

To support this investment in the region, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits as an incentive for Silfab Solar’s project. Additionally, they have awarded York County with a $2 million Set-Aside grant towards building improvements.

Silfab Solar prides itself on designing and engineering its own premium brand high-efficiency solar panels suitable for both residential and commercial use. With existing facilities located in Bellingham and Burlington (Washington), as well as Toronto (Canada), their decision to choose York County further solidifies their commitment towards expanding their presence within North America.
