**T1 Energy Receives Tax Incentives for $850 Million Solar Factory in Milam County**
Milam County, located northeast of Austin, has approved a significant economic incentive package for T1 Energy, a company specializing in components for solar energy systems. The agreement will support the development of an $850 million manufacturing facility, providing the company with substantial property tax abatements over the next 30 years.
T1 Energy plans to construct a five-gigawatt solar cell manufacturing plant, named G2 Austin, on a 113-acre site just north of Alcoa Lake. The site is part of the 3,300-acre Advanced Manufacturing Logistix Campus. In return for the tax breaks, T1 Energy has committed to creating 1,800 new jobs in the region.
Construction of the factory is scheduled to commence this year, with production expected to begin by the end of 2026. Full staffing is anticipated by late 2027, and the facility must be completed by December 31, 2028, under the terms of the agreement.
The manufacturing campus is part of a larger 33,000-acre property once owned by Alcoa Corp. and acquired in 2021 by Dallas-based Xebec Holdings LLC. The site is being transformed into a mixed-use development aimed at bringing industrial and manufacturing projects to the region.
