SLC Adaptive Reuse Project Reaches Completion

SLC Adaptive Reuse Project Reaches Completion

The historic Union Pacific Depot Train Station, built in 1909, is undergoing a transformation into a high-end hotel. The Asher Adams, an eight-story luxury Marriott Autograph Collection property developed by Athens Group and Hatteras Sky, has reached its ceremonial midpoint with the topping off of construction. Set to open in fall of 2024, this will be the first Autograph Collection hotel in Salt Lake City.

According to Kim Richards from Athens Group: “Asher Adams celebrates the rich history of Salt Lake City and the Union Pacific Depot while offering both locals and global visitors a luxurious and modern experience.” The project aims to preserve much of the train station’s French Empire architecture.

The hotel is named after Asher and Adams – two cartographers who were among the first to map out railroad routes on maps. This adaptive reuse project pays tribute to their contributions while bringing new life into this iconic building.
