"SLC Adaptive Reuse Project Reaches Completion"

The historic Union Pacific Depot Train Station, built in 1909, is currently undergoing a transformation into a high-end hotel. The project is a collaboration between Athens Group and Hatteras Sky to create the eight-story Asher Adams. Recently reaching its ceremonial midpoint with the topping off of construction, this development will be Salt Lake City’s first Marriott Autograph Collection hotel and is set to open in fall of 2024.

According to Kim Richards from Athens Group, “Asher Adams pays tribute to Salt Lake City’s rich history and the Union Pacific Depot while offering both locals and visitors an upscale contemporary experience.” The developers are committed to preserving much of the train station’s French Empire architecture during this adaptive reuse project.

The hotel takes its name from Asher Adams, who were renowned for being among the first cartographers to include railroad routes on their maps. This exciting adaptive reuse project has now reached its topping out milestone in SLC.
