Construction has reached the topping-out milestone for the new Westfield Police Department headquarters in Westfield, Indiana, marking a key step forward for a major civic investment in public safety infrastructure.
Skender is serving as general contractor on the project, working alongside developer Garmong to deliver the new facility, which is budgeted at $35 million. The headquarters is intended to accommodate the city’s ongoing growth and to provide updated space for law enforcement operations.
The complex is rising on an 11.7-acre site along Grand Park Boulevard, just north of 181st Street in Westfield. The project is designed as an approximately 50,000-square-foot building that will replace the city’s existing Westfield Public Safety Building, consolidating the police department’s functions into a purpose-built facility.
Architecture and planning for the headquarters are led by Dewberry, which has designed the facility as a future-ready complex. The building is configured to meet current staffing and operational requirements while allowing for long-term expansion as the city grows and public safety needs evolve.
Plans call for the headquarters to be expandable to as much as 80,000 square feet over time. That future program includes a 30,000-square-foot addition anticipated over a 15- to 20-year horizon, providing a framework for phased growth without the need to relocate or fundamentally reconfigure the site.
Construction began in late 2025, and the project team is targeting completion in 2027. Once finished, the new facility is expected to become the primary base of operations for the Westfield Police Department, replacing the older public safety building and modernizing the city’s public safety footprint.
“We’ve had a great partnership with the City of Westfield and the owner’s representative Veridus Group throughout this project,” said Brian Simons, president of Skender’s Indianapolis office, noting the collaborative approach among the construction team, municipal leaders, and project advisors as the headquarters progresses toward delivery.
