Skanska Wins $1.24B Contract for JFK Airport Roadway Reconstruction

Skanska, in partnership with Halmar International, has been awarded a contract by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to undertake the $1.24 billion design and reconstruction of the Central Terminal Area Roadways, Utilities, and Ground Transportation Center (GTC) at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York. Parsons Corporation will serve as lead designer for Skanska Halmar JFK Joint Venture’s project which aims to improve airport roadway network while enhancing overall travel experience for passengers.

The design-build project includes reconfiguration of roadways with intuitive wayfinding features; enhanced traffic technologies such as retaining walls bridges; utility relocations & upgrades; construction of modern Ground Transportation Center featuring multi-level parking facility & elevated pedestrian bridge along with energy efficient provisions – all expected to be completed by December 2027 contributing towards transformation JFK into world class aviation hub.
