Creating a dedicated U.S. asset management leadership role signals Skanska's push to institutionalize portfolio oversight and support value preservation in a maturing office-heavy development book.

Skanska USA Commercial Development has brought on Michael Meyer as vice president of asset management, a newly created role designed to enhance performance across the company's U.S. commercial development portfolio.

The new position centers on elevating asset performance and reporting while supporting Skanska's priorities around customer experience, operational execution, investor communications, sustainability and readiness for potential divestments.

In his role, Meyer is charged with providing a coordinated approach to how Skanska's commercial assets are monitored and managed, with a focus on consistent performance standards and clear reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

He will collaborate closely with Skanska's regional market teams, as well as leaders across finance, marketing and sustainability, to ensure that asset-level decisions align with the company's broader business and investment objectives.

Meyer is based in Washington, D.C., positioning him within one of Skanska's key U.S. markets, and he reports directly to Pablo Rabagliati, chief financial officer of Skanska USA Commercial Development.

Murphy McCullough, president and CEO of Skanska USA Commercial Development, noted that the creation of this role reflects the evolution of the company's portfolio and its emphasis on extracting long-term value from its investments as they grow and mature.

Before joining Skanska, Meyer served as vice president of asset management at Redbrick LMD, where he oversaw a diversified portfolio comprising multifamily and commercial properties in the Washington, D.C. region.

His previous responsibilities at Redbrick LMD included strategic oversight of assets across multiple property types, providing experience that Skanska will now apply to its own U.S. commercial development holdings.

The appointment underscores Skanska's focus on formalizing asset management functions within its development platform as it continues to operate and position a growing portfolio of commercial real estate in the United States.
