Skanska, a global construction and development company, along with joint venture partner Coffman Specialties, has been selected by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority to oversee the $390 million I-15 Corridor Freight Improvement and Express Lanes Project. This project will involve constructing two new express lanes in the median of both directions of I-15 North and South for a total distance of 10.8 miles.

According to James Bailey, Executive Vice President of Skanska USA Civil’s West Coast operations, these new lanes will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion for over 200,000 daily commuters on this section of highway.

The scope of work includes widening both inside and outside lanes on the roadway as well as making modifications to bridge structures. Other tasks include installing retaining walls, improving drainage systems and electrical systems, and completing concrete paving work. The project is set to begin in January with an expected completion date in July 2028.
