Skanska, a leading construction and development company, has recently announced the restructuring of its US Building Sustainability Team. The team will now be led by two experienced professionals, Steve Clem and Myrrh Caplan. As senior vice presidents, they will utilize Skanska’s global and domestic resources to drive environmental initiatives that support both clients and communities.
Caplan is a 2022 LEED Fellow with extensive expertise in sustainable building practices. She has successfully overseen nearly 300 certified projects throughout her career and co-created initiatives such as the AGC Task Force on Decarbonization. On the other hand, Clem brings his background in construction engineering to his role as co-lead of Skanska’s sustainability team. He has been instrumental in spearheading decarbonization efforts within the company while also championing mass timber projects.
Skanska is committed to sustainability goals such as achieving carbon neutrality by 2045 with a significant reduction of 70% by 2030. The company takes pride in delivering over 44 million square feet of certified space so far while also supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals through its operations.
This announcement marks another step towards Skanska’s dedication to promoting sustainable practices within the industry without compromising on quality or efficiency.
