Skanska Constructing College of Engineering at Virginia Tech

Skanska, a renowned construction company, has been selected by Virginia Tech to undertake the demolition of Randolph Hall and build Mitchell Hall – a state-of-the-art facility spanning 285,500 square feet for the College of Engineering. This five-story building will significantly expand the campus area by over 70%, making it the largest structure on Blacksburg’s premises. With its striking design featuring glass, precast concrete and Hokie Stone cladding, Mitchell Hall will also incorporate an existing stability wind tunnel.

The impressive building will house various facilities such as a spacious lecture hall accommodating up to 200 individuals, classrooms equipped with modern amenities and flexible research spaces that cater to contemporary learning and research requirements. Construction is scheduled to commence in spring 2024 with completion expected in spring 2028. Skanska has previously undertaken successful projects at Virginia Tech including constructing Undergraduate Science Laboratory Building and Fralin Biomedical Research Institute Addition.
