Skanska has been awarded a $311 million contract to construct Simmons University’s new Living and Learning Center in Boston, Massachusetts. This project is the final phase of the university’s ‘One Simmons’ plan which seeks to consolidate all facilities onto one campus. The center will feature a student dormitory with over 1,000 beds, meeting and social spaces, office support areas as well as a 500-seat dining facility. Additionally it will include an athletics and fitness facility with amenities such as pool, gymnasiums rowing tanks and weight room along with an existing central electrical plant plus emergency generator serving other academic buildings onsite.
Construction is slated for May 2023 while completion date is scheduled for September 2026 after which Skanska plans to develop Longwood Place next.
