Ross Perot’s EDS was a pioneer in the early days of the tech boom. Founded in 1962, it was eventually acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2008. Its Plano headquarters opened its doors in 1992 and has been vacant since 2018. Since then, NexPoint, the new owner has explored opportunities to redevelop the 1.6 million square foot office complex into something new and innovative for modern times.
Earlier this year, NexPoint revealed plans to transform this empty office space into a $3 billion life sciences campus called Texas Research Quarters (TRQ). According to Dallas Business Journal reports, TRQ will feature an array of laboratory spaces as well as offices and therapeutic production areas along with community parks and educational facilities for those living nearby or working onsite at TRQ . Additionally , NexPoint recently announced that they would be adding a small hotel with conference rooms plus limited mid-rise residential units designed primarily for employees who wish to live within quarters .
This ambitious project is sure to bring many exciting changes not only from an economic standpoint but also socially as well!
