Ross Perot’s EDS was a pioneer in the early days of the tech boom. Founded in 1962, it was eventually acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2008. Its Plano headquarters opened its doors to employees and visitors alike back in 1992, but has been vacant since 2018. Since then, NexPoint – the new owner – has been exploring ways to redevelop this 1.6 million square foot office complex into something new and exciting for North Texas residents and businesses alike.
Earlier this year, NexPoint revealed plans to convert these empty buildings into a $3 billion life sciences campus called “Texas Research Quarters.” According to Dallas Business Journal reports, this main campus will feature laboratory space for research purposes as well as office space; therapeutic production facilities; a community park; educational facilities; conference spaces at an on-site hotel with limited high-quality mid-rise residential units designed primarily for those working or living within quarters’ vicinity.
