Shape Up Plans for Shutting Down Austin-Area Alcoa Plant

Xebec Holdings is looking to transform the 31,000-acre aluminum plant property into an industrial mega-site. Located only 15 miles east of the proposed Samsung Electronics multi-billion dollar chip factory in Taylor and a 30 minute drive from the Tesla factory, Xebec purchased this shuttered plant in 2021 for $240 million.

The company plans to develop 3,300 acres into 50 million square feet of industrial space for what it’s calling an Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics Campus. This site will include up to 36 buildings with each having 1.25 million square feet apiece when completed by mid 2025. The entire campus could total between 30 – 50 million square feet of logistics space supported by rail and roads when finished but no tenants have been announced yet as development continues on schedule .

In addition, future plans are being made for housing developments along with solar farms , retail outlets , commercial services , hospitality facilities and recreational centers that can be built on remaining land once construction is complete .
