“Seattle Port Breaks Ground on Maritime Innovation Center”

"Seattle Port Breaks Ground on Maritime Innovation Center"

The Port of Seattle has begun construction on the renovation and modernization of the historic Ship Supply Building at Fishermen’s Terminal. This project will include a state-of-the-art Maritime Innovation Center (MInC) that is certified by the Living Building Challenge (LBC).

This new facility aims to bring together students, innovators, businesses, public agencies, academia and community stakeholders to meet various needs within the maritime industry. The Port has partnered with Miller Hull in constructing this cutting-edge center.

According to Commissioner Fred Felleman from the Port of Seattle, this groundbreaking event marks their commitment towards supporting innovation as a means for sustaining our region’s blue economy.

To ensure that Fishermen’s Terminal remains equipped for commercial fishing and other maritime activities in future decades, over $100 million will be invested by the Port as part of its long-term strategic redevelopment plan. This includes maintaining docks for fishers and improving upland facilities.
