Scheels Arizona Store Grand Opening Draws Large Crowds

Scheels, a popular sporting goods store known for its impressive attractions such as a Ferris wheel and 16,000-gallon fish tank, recently opened its newest location in Chandler. The grand opening drew tens of thousands of shoppers on the first day alone. According to reports from the Phoenix Business Journal, this has resulted in increased leasing activity at the Chandler Fashion Center owned by Macerich.

The 250,000-square-foot store is expected to attract customers from all over Arizona and other retailers are hoping to benefit from this influx of shoppers who may not typically be in their market. The new Scheels location occupies a space previously held by Nordstroms which closed due to financial struggles during the Covid crisis.

Inside the Chandler Scheels store are 75 specialty shops offering a wide range of products. This marks Scheel’s 32nd location and employs over 400 people. With its successful launch in Arizona drawing stunning crowds, it’s clear that Scheels will continue to expand its reach across different states.
