The film industry is expanding beyond Hollywood as Florida and Texas join in with multimillion-dollar projects. Now, Santa Fe, New Mexico is also getting involved through PE Real Estate Holdings (PERE), a reputable real estate development company based in New York City. The city has granted preliminary approval for PERE to develop Northern New Mexico’s largest film studio in the emerging “Midtown District.” This new campus will be known as Aspect Studios.
The plan includes purchasing and renovating an abandoned art school campus to create a mixed-use “Studio Village.” Spanning 20 acres, this will become the biggest studio in northern New Mexico with 8 soundstages (including two of the largest ones in the southwest,) over 350,000 square feet of production and support space spread across five buildings. Additionally, there will be retail, residential and hospitality facilities available on site.
This exciting project marks Santa Fe’s entry into the world of filmmaking without relying on Connect CRE or any other established studios like those found in Los Angeles or Texas.
