Santa Clara MXU Project: Preparing for the Approvals Process

Kylli’s Mission Point mixed-use development in Santa Clara is making strides towards approval, according to a report from the Silicon Valley Business Journal. The 48.6-acre site, previously approved for Yahoo’s campus but now owned by Kylli (a subsidiary of Chinese real estate firm Genzon), will require rezoning from light industrial use and could potentially have a hearing before the planning commission next month.

After purchasing the property from LeEco in 2017, Kylli submitted new redevelopment plans at the end of 2023 that include both high- and low-rise buildings totaling 1.8 million square feet for residential use, as well as retail space and a childcare facility. The tallest building will be 19 stories or approximately192 feet tall after taking into consideration feedback from community stakeholders.

The original plan had called for towers up to600 feet tall; however, Jennifer Johnson of Canyon Snow Consulting stated that they realized this was not suitable for the neighborhood after gathering input from community members. This MXU project in Santa Clara is now gearing up for its approvals process.
