San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, UCSD Chancellor Pradeep Khosla, and representatives from Pfizer and BD Biosciences came together to celebrate the grand opening of Torrey View. The 10-acre life science campus in Del Mar Heights was developed by Breakthrough Properties. Months before its completion, the 520,000-square-foot campus had already been fully leased.
Pfizer’s oncology division secured a lease for two buildings totaling 230,000 square feet while global medical technology company BD established an innovation center for its Biosciences division across a third building spanning 220,000 square feet. The remaining space was leased to Charles River Laboratories, Actio Biosciences and Architect Therapeutics with JLL handling leasing on behalf of Breakthrough.
Breakthrough Properties acquired the Torrey View site in October 2020 through a joint venture between Tishman Speyer and Bellco Capital. They worked alongside co-equity partners Mitsui Fudosan America Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO) and AP2 to develop this premier hub for innovation and collaboration where groundbreaking research will take place according to CEO Dan Belldegrun.
