San Antonio City Council has approved a zoning change allowing Houston-based real estate firm **Woodbranch Management Inc.** to convert one of the two office properties at 8401 Datapoint Drive into an apartment building. This change permits the developer to build at a density of 60 units per acre at **Highpoint One**, while **Highpoint Two** will remain an office property for the foreseeable future.
According to the *San Antonio Business Journal*, Woodbranch acquired the property in 2023 after the previous owner filed for bankruptcy. Multiple sales attempts were conducted by Capital One, which was owed $53 million in the case, but ultimately, Woodbranch secured the property as the ground lease owner.
Additionally, the city council’s vote allows the developer to construct a building no taller than six stories behind Highpoint One. To address concerns from the neighboring condo community, any structure built within 150 feet of the eastern property line will have height limitations to prevent encroachment.
