University Health has commenced construction on the University Health Palo Alto Hospital, a $470 million project that will serve as the cornerstone of a $500 million medical campus.
According to reports from the San Antonio Business Journal, this 166-bed hospital will be located on a 68-acre site adjacent to Texas A&M University-San Antonio. In 2021, University Health acquired this land for $10.4 million.
In addition to the hospital, last month saw groundbreaking for Vida – a three-story facility that will house its Institute for Public Health and connect with the new hospital. This state-of-the-art center is expected to open in 2026 and offer primary care services along with wellness and preventive health education programs. The highly anticipated new hospital is set to open in 2027 and feature an around-the-clock emergency department as well as labor and delivery services.
