“Sale Listing for Goose Island Project Site”

"Sale Listing for Goose Island Project Site"

The Ciral family, owners of a former lumberyard on Goose Island, have put the land up for sale. This decision raises doubts about Hines’ long-standing plans to construct Chicago’s first mass timber building on the property.

According to Crain’s , CBRE is handling the marketing of the 2.1-acre site located at 1017 W. Division St., which was previously used as a lumberyard by the Ciral family. This listing comes after years of Hines announcing their intentions for T3 Goose Island, an office building spanning six stories and 275,000 square feet that would utilize specially engineered wood in its construction process. The development will also include private balconies to promote an indoor-outdoor connection and a communal rooftop deck.

Hines has successfully completed similar projects in other cities under their T3 brand name, which stands for timber, transit and technology—a more sustainable approach to construction methods.
