According to a report by Crain’s New York Business, law firm Ropes & Gray has secured one of the largest office leases in Manhattan this year. The firm will be moving to a new location at RXR’s 1285 Ave. of the Americas, occupying approximately 430,000 square feet. This move marks an expansion for Ropes & Gray as they currently occupy 300,000 square feet at their current location on Ave. of the Americas and plan to vacate it by 2026.
The space being taken over by Ropes & Gray was previously occupied by another law firm that is also expanding in its relocation: Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. As reported last December by Connect CRE , Paul Weiss will be leaving behind their current space at 1285 Ave.of the Americas (550K SF) for a larger space (765K SF) at Fisher Brothers’ building located on1345 Ave.oftheAmericas.
Cushman& Wakefield’s Mark Weiss and Newmark Moshe Sukenik represented Ropes&Gray during lease negotiations while RXR’s William Elder represented ownership internally. The lease agreement is said to span between10-15 years.
