Riverside’s Stalder Building Adaptive Reuse Project Completed

Riverside's Stalder Building Adaptive Reuse Project Completed

Architecture firm AO provided design for Regional Properties Inc.’s The Mark, a mixed-use seven-story residential and retail building in Riverside’s historic core. Preserving the unified 1926 façade of the former Stalder Building, 20,000 square feet of retail space now host street-level boutiques and restaurants integrated with a modern seven-story podium housing 165 apartments. Named for accomplished local developer Mark Rubin who was extensively involved in design and development until his passing in 2021, this adaptive reuse project is the last of his many contributions to the city.

“The Mark was my late father’s vision,” said Michelle Rubin, president of Regional Properties Inc., “He believed this was one of Riverside’s best pieces of property; he sought to restore its history while blending it with a modern downtown community.” With prior experience working together on projects like these before his passing , AO proved their expertise could bring Mr. Rubin’s vision into reality .

The completion marks an important milestone for both Riverside residents as well as developers looking to invest more into adaptive reuse projects across California CRE .
