The Port of Oakland has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) in search of a developer for its 50-acre Howard Property. This former marine terminal, located along the Oakland waterfront, has not been used for cargo vessel operations since 2013.
Situated between industrial operations to the west and Jack London Square to the east, submissions are open to various potential uses such as maritime, light industrial, commercial, recreational and water-oriented developments.
After years of consideration by Port officials regarding potential ideas for this site’s use, an RFQ is now available on their website. In 2019 they entered into an exclusive negotiation term sheet with the Oakland A’s baseball team but it expired in May 2023.
According to Jonathan Veach , chief real estate officer at Port of Oakland: “This presents a major opportunity for us to create a transformative development project that will bring significant economic benefits not only to Oakland but also the entire region.” Interested parties must submit their responses by December 9th ,2024.
