Reviving Commercial Properties in the U District with Partnership Grants

The U District Partnership has launched a 2023 Vacant Spaces Revival Grant program, providing an opportunity to use grant money to revitalize ground-floor storefronts in Seattle’s University District. This fund is designed to defray the significant costs associated with opening a new ground-floor commercial business by offering one-time funding for fixed asset improvements and exterior or interior renovations necessary for operation.

This initiative is part of the federal ARPA program, awarded by the Washington State Department of Commerce specifically to support small, BIPOC-, and women-owned businesses. As Seattle’s primary place management organization in its University District area, The U District Partnership aims at reviving commercial properties through this grant program.
