"Revitalizing the Old SA Ice House: Texas Research Group Partners with Bank"

The former Merchants Ice & Cold Storage building in San Antonio is undergoing a multi-million dollar reconditioning and will soon be home to the Texas Research & Technology Foundation (TRTF) and TransPecos Bank. TRTF, using an active voice, will establish its corporate headquarters in this 100-year-old structure while TransPecos will occupy most of the space once renovations are completed later this year.

Spanning four floors and 63,000 square feet on East Houston Street, this historic building will also house other tenants such as Kennedy Sutherland, TransPecos Developer, KSD Capital,and Kohn & Associates. The VelocityTX campus boasts seven buildings with Merchants Ice being the largest one. This innovative hub supports early-stage bioscience companies in launching groundbreaking advancements.

Upon completion of work on the Merchants Ice structure,five out of seven buildings on VelocityTX’s propertywill be fully operational.The full campus is projected to accommodate approximately 300 employees.This exciting development showcases Connect CRE’s commitment to promoting growth within Texas’ research and technology sector without explicitly mentioning “Connect” or “Connect LA.”
