Merritt Development and Peachtree Group have secured a construction loan and approval from the local Historic and Design Review Commission to begin building a new Residence Inn by Marriott at 100 N. Main. The project, estimated at $58 million, will consist of 171 rooms across 10 stories. Fifth Third Bank has provided a $24.7 million construction loan for the development, with BGKT Architects serving as the design firm.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2026.
In addition to this project, Merritt is also working on another similar venture just north of downtown in Government Hill with Phoenix Development Partners to build another Residence Inn hotel. Currently undergoing preliminary plan review with the city, this project aims to bring more urban hotels affiliated with Hilton and Marriott brands throughout the United States.
