A prominent golf resort located near the former site of the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine has changed ownership in a $24.25 million deal. The property, situated in St. Johns County just west of Interstate 95 and north of International Golf Parkway, was sold by Atrium Finance to SUN Development & Management Corp.
The 301-room hotel, located at 500 South Legacy Trail, originally opened in 1988 as part of the World Golf Village development. It operates under the Renaissance Hotels brand, a part of the Marriott portfolio.
This sale marks a significant moment in the area’s ongoing transformation. The World Golf Foundation closed the Hall of Fame in 2023, relocating the attraction to Pinehurst, North Carolina. The nearby IMAX theater followed suit, shutting its doors in late 2024. Despite these closures, the surrounding area continues to thrive, bolstered by the arrival of major retailers such as Bass Pro Shops, Buc-ee’s, and Costco, solidifying its status as a bustling commercial hub in St. Johns County.
