The renowned media publisher, The Washington Post, has made the strategic decision to remain in its 300,000-square-foot office space at One Franklin Square located in Downtown Washington D.C. In a recent announcement by Hines – the landlord of this 612,189-square-foot tower also known as 1301 K Street NW – it was revealed that The Washington Post has successfully renegotiated their lease through at least 2037.
This lease extension not only secures the future of The Washington Post’s presence in this prime location but also allows Hines to extend their existing loan through Mesa West for up to five years with a total funding amount of $250 million. This includes provisions for potential leasing activities in the future. Since moving into this property back in 2016, The Washington Post currently occupies five floors on one side and three floors on another side of the building along with some ground-floor space.
Among other notable tenants within One Franklin Square are law firms Reed Smith and Davis Wright Tremaine. JM Zell Partners played an instrumental role representing The Washington Post during these negotiations while Hines was represented by their own team internally.
In conclusion,
the iconic publication will continue its operations from its long-standing headquarters without any interruptions or changes expected anytime soon.
