Related Midwest and Chicago Fire FC have unveiled new renderings for a $650 million soccer-specific stadium planned for downtown Chicago. The stadium will anchor The 78, a 62-acre development situated along the Chicago River just south of Roosevelt Road.
Privately financed by the Club’s Owner and Chairman, Joe Mansueto, the project is intended to be a modern landmark that integrates seamlessly into Chicago’s renowned skyline.
“This stadium is adding to Chicago’s iconic skyline, so I want it to look timeless,” said Mansueto. “It will look like it’s always belonged here, but with the modern innovations required for a world-class soccer club.”
The stadium, designed by global architecture firm Gensler, will seat approximately 22,000 fans. Construction is set to begin in early 2026, with the stadium expected to open in 2028.
In addition to serving as the home of Chicago Fire FC, the stadium is projected to create thousands of jobs and generate significant tax revenue for the city of Chicago.
