A $65 million project is in the works for Lockhart, Texas, located in Caldwell County. The town and county are currently exploring incentive programs to entice Related to finalize the deal. According to reports from the Austin Business Journal, Related has plans for a 310,000-square-foot cold storage facility on a 53-acre site in Lockhart. This facility will serve as storage for frozen and refrigerated goods and cater to food producers, manufacturers, grocery retailers, and food service companies. It could also potentially be part of a larger development.
The Caldwell County Commissioners Court will soon review an incentive agreement between the county and Related at an upcoming meeting. In addition to this potential agreement with the county government, there is also talk of providing $1 million over ten years by way of utilities reimbursement at a special meeting called by the Lockhart Economic Development Corp.
