Redevelopment Planned for Former Westshore Plaza

CBRE is providing guidance for the redevelopment of Westshore 54, a 53.3-acre property located at the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Interstate 275 in Tampa’s Westshore district.

The site, which currently houses the Westshore Plaza mall with over 1 million square feet of space, is now up for sale and will undergo a transformation. With entitlements secured by Washington Prime Group (WPG) totaling over 8.1 million square feet, there are opportunities for vertical development at Westshore 54. The proposed redevelopment plan includes office buildings, a medical center, retail shops and restaurants, a hotel and residential units.

In early January of this year (2024), WPG received final approval from Tampa City Council for their plans to redevelop the site. In October of that same year (2024), WPG acquired Macy’s Inc.’s department store real estate as part of its expansion efforts nationwide; however Macy’s announced it would be closing its Tampa location along with several others across the country in early January as well. Additionally in October (2024), Dick’s Sporting Goods left their anchor box at Westshore Plaza to relocate to an innovative new concept store within International Plaza.
