**Transformation Underway on Former Durham Coca-Cola Plant**
The Ardent Companies has officially closed on the former Coca-Cola bottling plant in Durham, with plans to transform the historic site into a major mixed-use destination. Known as “Westside Bottling,” the $200 million redevelopment project pays homage to the site’s legacy while ushering in a vibrant new chapter for the community.
Already, 70% of the project has been leased, signaling strong interest in the development ahead of its groundbreaking next month. Upon completion, Westside Bottling will feature more than 70,000 square feet of retail space, 370 multifamily residences, and 35 for-sale townhomes. Site work is actively underway, with the first retail tenants expected to open their doors by the fourth quarter of 2026.
Although much of the existing bottling plant will be demolished, Ardent plans to repurpose select elements from the original facility to preserve the site’s historical character.
Confirmed retail tenants include Sprouts Farmers Market, Shake Shack, Ulta Beauty, Club Pilates, First Watch, and Vernis Nail Salon. First Citizens Bank, which currently occupies part of the site, will continue its operations at the location.
Westside Bottling is poised to become a dynamic, walkable hub that blends modern living with deep local roots.
