Redeveloped Factory Trades as Loft Apartments in Haverhill: A Transformation Story

A team from CBRE, led by Simon Butler, Biria St. John, John McLaughlin and Brian Bowler successfully facilitated the sale of Ellis Factory Lofts in Haverhill, MA. The Class A apartment building consists of 59 units and is located at 24 Essex St. While the exact sale price was not disclosed by CBRE, it was reported to be $13.7 million according to the Haverhill Gazette.

The seller for this transaction was Chinburg Properties – a New Hampshire-based developer – who were represented by CBRE. The buyer for this property is SMC Management – a Massachusetts-based multifamily investor and developer.

Originally built in 2019 as Ted’s Leather Goods factory and mill building, Ellis Factory Lofts now offers six stories of loft-style living along with three commercial suites.

Biria St.John commented on the transaction saying: “This property stands out as one of the best examples we have seen of high-quality loft conversions in downtown Haverhill that are contributing towards making it an attractive city to live in.”
