Record-Breaking Passenger Counts at Ontario Airport for Two Months in a Row

In June, Ontario International Airport (ONT) set a record for passenger volume, welcoming more than 559,000 travelers and breaking the previous month’s record. The airport also saw its highest number of international travelers in a single month at 37,000. This 8.7% increase from June last year was driven by domestic passengers growing by 5%, while international air travel more than doubled to 37,000 passengers.

Atif Elkadi CEO of the Ontario International Airport Authority commented on this success: “Since taking ownership of the airport our goal has been to create an international gateway for Southern California with amenities that befit the region’s status as one of America’s most populous states.” He continued: “We are delighted that demand for air travel through ONT remains strong and is outpacing other California airports due to population growth and job creation across our region.”
However commercial freight and mail volumes declined 14% in June compared with 2019 figures – consistent with lower cargo volume globally which had been predicted by industry analysts prior to this decrease being recorded..
