### Las Vegas Sands Abandons Casino Proposal for Texas Stadium Site

Las Vegas Sands Corp. has decided to withdraw its proposal to develop a casino and destination resort at the former Texas Stadium site in Irving. The decision comes after significant opposition from local residents, with more than 175 people attending an Irving City Council meeting to voice their concerns, the majority of whom were against the project.

Despite abandoning the casino project, the company is still considering alternative developments for the site. One potential option is a 15,000-seat arena, which would be large enough to accommodate the Dallas Mavericks, the NBA team owned by Sands. The team is contemplating relocating once its lease at the current arena expires in 2031.

Had the original proposal been approved, Sands planned to invest $4 billion in a 4-million-square-foot development. The project was projected to create approximately 9,000 jobs and generate over $85 million in tax revenue, including $25 million specifically for the City of Irving.
